IES Technical Luncheon - BIM & Lighting Design

Using Building Information Modelling (BIM) for lighting design.

The IES is proud to announce that on January 27th we are hosting a lunch and learn featuring two local board members, Sergio Martinez and Josh Bornia on the topic of how Building Information Modeling (BIM) software can significantly streamline the lighting design process.
This session will cover:
 

  • An overview of BIM and tools specific to lighting design
  • What information is required to start a BIM project
  • A brief review of IES files, 3D modeling, surfaces and lighting power density
  • Integration with other programs such as AGi32, Sketchup & Rhino
  • Tips and tricks for lighting design in Revit


Sergio Martinez’s Bio
“Sergio has experience working on commercial, institutional, and health care facilities. Since joining DIALOG, Sergio has demonstrated leadership and innovation in consolidating information across disciplines. Sergio is part of a firm wide team dedicated to create Building Information Modeling (BIM) excellence.”

Josh Bornia’s Bio
“Josh has graduated from the University of Alberta with a BScEE and is now an EIT at DIALOG. He has design experience in lighting, power, fire alarm, and communication systems. Josh has a passion for using BIM to automate and enhance the electrical design process”

This event is being held at the Victoria Golf Course club house just off River Valley Road. Parking is at the end of the driveway and free of charge. Doors will be at 11:30AM with the speakers starting at 12PM sharp. A hot lunch will be provided – please message us after your registration if you have any specific dietary needs.
