The IES is proud to announce that on May 4th we are hosting a lunch and learn featuring Trevor Peyton on the topic of how Power over Ethernet can redefine how we approach lighting and power distribution.
The lighting industry seems to be in a state of flux with a potential new identity and purpose in the not-so-distant future. Traditionally we have focused on manufacturing luminaires with the potential to illuminate an application. Is this enough? How does it connect with the environment and the user? The means to power and control those fixtures has remained relatively constant with various technologies and protocols at our disposal. Power over Ethernet (PoE) redefines how we approach lighting and power distribution. This isn’t a new technology, but it has the ability to significantly change our business. This presentation will explore the nature of PoE and highlight the pros and cons with existing comparable technologies.
