HSW Justification: This seminar explores the lighting industry to discuss materials, standards, research, and other lighting entities that support human health and environmental sustainability. The featured discussion considers ways to navigate specifications to include environmentally responsible materials and Red List Free textiles containing no hazardous ingredients. We examine standards, such as LBC 4.0, LEED, Declare label certification, and WELL, and look for the best solutions with regard to human performance, productivity, and well-being in lit environments.
Learning Objectives:
- To gain knowledge of the latest updates, advancements, and improvements to current standards and programs
- To navigate the system of specifying human beneficial lighting
- To understand what materials to look for that could be potentially hazardous in luminaires
- To understand how we validate the use of technical data required in establishing the verification of these standards
Janine Mighton LC MIES
Janine Mighton is the Marketing Communication Manager for Lumenwerx. Although she began her lighting career as a designer in 2001, she discovered that manufacturing ignited an even stronger passion for her in the lighting industry. Today, she is a full-fledged lighting nerd enjoying an illustrious career punctuated by several awards in multiple lighting sectors. Janine has been delivering accredited lighting presentations for architects, lighting designers, engineers and interior designers across North America since 2007. She has also been an IES Toronto Educational instructor since 2008, and has presented at several technical IES luncheons and trade shows over the year the last 15 years. Janine is also a facilitator at the Lumenwerx training facility. When she’s not exploring the latest innovations in lighting, Janine can be found tearing up the golf links or spending time with her family.

Upon arrival, please take the main elevators to the 4th Floor for the Stantec Reception, where you will check in and receive your name tag. Reception will provide you directions to the Wild Rose Room on the 3rd floor, where the presentation will be held.

Can I use my IES membership for a discount?
• Yes! Click the "Enter Promotional Code" link in the top right corner of the Select Tickets page and enter your individual IES number to reveal an IES Member ticket including discount. If your IES number is not in the system, please contact us at info@iesedmonton.org.
• The IES membership discount applies only to the IES member. Additional attendees are to be registered as non-IES members.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
• Street parking is available across the street, as well as the West Parkade – City Centre. The venue is also accessible via ETS Bus and LRT.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
• Yes, just let us know when you arrive so we can keep track of the attendees.
