Please join the IES for an outdoor tour of lighting around Edmonton. We will gather on a charter bus in downtown Edmonton and be brought around town to look at various lighting projects around the city. There will be planned stops to view the Terwillegar Park Footbridge (a National 2017 IES Illumination Award of Merit winner), the Legislature Annex and Walkway, the Funicular Tram located at the Hotel McDonald, and the Rogers Place LRT station. Along the way we will see the Brewery District development, Snow Valley, the Jubilee Auditorium, and the new Walterdale Bridge. This tour will provide the opportunity to see and discuss how lighting has been provided to both enhance the architectural presence of the structure and provide safety to the people around the space.
As this is an outdoor tour please dress for the weather with appropriate clothing and footwear. We will board the charter and proceed to the various sites. The charter will stop at select locations to allow everyone to disembark and go see the lighting first hand. While on the charter we encourage discussion of what can be seen around Edmonton. We will pass by various buildings in addition to the selected stops to see more of what is around our city. The tour is anticipated to take approximately two (2) hours with a social gathering at the conclusion of the event.
Come join us for an evening of lighting, discovery, and conversation! We look forward to seeing you at this unique event to celebrate some of Edmonton’s lighting diversity.
